IPL 2019: Shane Watson Battled With a Bloodied Knee To Almost Win it for Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings failed to complete the double of winning consecutive Indian Premier League trophies as they went down as Mumbai Indians by one run in a picturesque final clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Shane Watson almost took them over the line with an 80-run knock but got run out in the fourth ball of the last over which took the game away from Chennai.
Batting first, Chennai Super Kings bowlers once again presented a top-class performance to contain Mumbai Indians to 149 runs. After a flying start, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar put a brake on the run-flow and kept chipping in with crucial wickets to keep Mumbai Indians at bay. However, some late blows from Kieron Pollard helped the champions to post a challenging total on the board.
During the chase, Faf du Plessis gave Chennai a swashbuckling start before Mumbai banked on Rahul Chahar to nip back in the middle overs. But Shane Watson who got a handful of lives was still in the middle leading the charge for the defending champions. He took 40 runs from two overs to change the momentum of the game before Watson got runout in the last over which took the game to Mumbai’s favour. Jasprit Bumrah was outstanding with the ball as kept things tight from one end to build pressure on the opponent team. He returned with two for 14 runs from his full quota to go home with the man of the match award.

Although Shane Watson failed to win it for his team, but he earned praise from all corners for his fighting knock. Apart from being a big match player, the former Australian battled with a bleeding knee while taking his almost over the line. He had his pants soaked in pant during the death overs but he didn’t give and fought till the very end.
After the game, Chennai cricketer Shane Watson took to Instagram to share the news with the followers. He is informed that Watson got six stitches after the match got over.
