IPL 2019: Shimron Hetmyer-Gurkeerat Mann Singh Dismantle SRH, Twitter Reacts
May 4, 2019 at 11:51 PM
What a night it was for Gurkeerat Mann Singh and the Windies star Shimron Hetmyer. Out of nowhere, they pulled out a brilliant partnership to see Royal Challengers Bangalore finish on the positive note in the tournament. For SRH, apart from Kane Williamson, no one displayed their class.
Getting into the details, initially, it was Virat Kohli, who won the toss after losing 9 in the tournament. Without any ray of a doubt, they went to chose the bowling first. However, the SRH openers were up for the challenge, who smashed it brilliantly in the opening overs.
Shimron Hetmyer made the difference:
Martin Guptill and Saha smashed the ball to all corners of the park with ease by milking the runs in the powerplay overs. However, Navdeep Saini called curtains on Saha’s innings with a brilliant delivery. He was quickly followed by Manish Pandey as well.
Despite that Guptill and Williamson knocked it around to keep the scorecard tickling at a good run-rate. However, they never got the required firepower in the middle overs to up the ante. During the course, Guptill also lost his wicket while Vijay Shankar failed to convert his good start.
However, it was the skipper Kane Willamson, who did the trick for SRH in the slog overs. He took RCB bowlers to the cleaners with his clean striking in the middle. In the end, his brilliant knock helped SRH to post 175 runs on the board.
In reply to the chase, SRH got the dream start when they bagged the wickets of Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in quick succession. However, then came the brilliant knocks from Shimron Hetmyer and Gurkeerat Mann Singh, who changed the complexion of the game.
The remarkable partnership between them saw Sunrisers Hyderabad chasing the leather more often than not. In the end, it was pretty easy for the team, who made SRH pray for KKR loss against Mumbai.
Here are a few tweets:
On of the cricket’s mysteries: how does Umesh Yadav end up bowling the last over?
— Sambit Bal (@sambitbal) May 4, 2019
Further strength to my theory that maybe we should take no-balls out of the umpire's jurisdiction. Will allow them to focus on lbw & on protection from shots hit back. The 3rd umpire with a locked-off camera can adjudicate before the next ball is bowled with no loss of time at all

At least #Hetmeyer has shown the #RCB fans a glimpse of why he is so highly rated.

The only player more consistent than MS Dhoni in last over is Sir Umesh Yadav. #RCBvSRH

What explains #RCB playing with three overseas players when Hetmeyer was sitting on the bench?? Understandable when four overseas were available and he wasn’t one of them after the first few games… #RCBvSRH #IPL

Change it. Please change it. If you spot that it wasn’t a no-ball, why carry on with the error?? #Umesh #RCBvSRH #IPL

Sometimes I question the selection of RCB , why they have not played #gurkeerat at the start of the IPL. Was #ViratKohli not deeply focussed on the #IPL ? #RCBvSRH
