IPL 2019: Suresh Raina on the Cusp of Another Milestone
Chennai Super Kings talisman batsman Suresh Raina is on the cusp of another record in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Raina, who is known for his fine fielding has gulped 99 catches in the Indian Premier League history. Thus, the Uttar Pradesh player needs to take another catch to complete his centuries of catches.
Raina is one short of the illustrious landmark and has played 187 matches in the cash-rich tournament. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore linchpin batsman AB de Villiers has walloped 84 catches in 151 matches and he is second on the list.
Suresh Raina hasn’t been in the best of forms.
Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has taken 82 catches in his IPL career. Furthermore, Kieron Pollard and Virat Kohli have caught 79 and 71 catches respectively.
On the other hand, Suresh Raina had earlier became the first batsman to cross the barrier of 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League.
Suresh Raina has thus far amassed 5230 runs in the IPL folklore and he is currently the second highest run-getter in the tournament. Virat Kohli is at the top of the list as the Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper has scored 5348 runs in the IPL history.
Meanwhile, Suresh Raina is not in the best of forms in the ongoing season of the tourney. The southpaw has thus far scored 245 runs in the 11 matches he has played. The left-hander has scored his runs at an average of 24.50, which is below his IPL standards as he is the most consistent batsman in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings is once again at the top of the points table as the defending champions have won eight matches out of the 11 they have played. They have almost qualified for the playoff stages and would play their 12th match of the edition against Mumbai Indians today at their home den.
Both these teams had met earlier in the season and Mumbai Indians had won that match by 37 runs.
