This would be the tough loss to take for Kane Williamson-led side at M Chinnaswamy Stadium They were completely outsmarted by the Virat Kohli-led side to make things look bleak for them. Meanwhile, the skipper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad reflects his thoughts on the tough loss at Bangalore.
Initially, Martin Guptill and Saha smashed the ball to all corners of the park with ease by milking the runs in the powerplay overs. It was the skipper Kane Willamson, who did the trick for SRH in the slog overs. He took RCB bowlers to the cleaners with his clean striking in the middle. In the end, his brilliant knock helped SRH to post 175 runs on the board.
In reply to the chase, SRH got the dream start when they bagged the wickets of Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in quick succession. However, then came the brilliant knocks from Shimron Hetmyer and Gurkeerat Mann Singh, who changed the complexion of the game.
10-15 runs would have been nice – Kane Williamson
Speaking of the loss, Kane Williamson quoted that it was a tough loss to take, especially, after taking control of the game. He also quoted that they failed to take the opportunities in the middle overs, which saw them ending up on the wrong side of things.
”Every time you turn up you like an element of control. At the halfway stage it felt like we set a competitive total. Credit to Bangalore for the way they stuck out and kept coming hard at us. Naturally, when you take your opportunities it does help. But that is a game of cricket. It would’ve been nice to get 10-15 runs in the first innings, but credit to Bangalore for keeping up the pressure.”
Kane Williamson also lauded RCB for putting them under pressure right through the game, He also quoted that the last couple of games would have seen them on the right side but something or the other let them down. Now, he hopes for Mumbai seal it for Hyderabad.
”I suppose there are a number of fine lines, our last two matches could’ve gone either way but we ended up on the wrong side. But that’s T20 cricket for you. It is one of those things now, we have to sit and wait, things are not in control which is a shame. Fingers crossed, lets see how it goes tomorrow.”
All in all, it was a tough day at the office for Kane Williamson-led side. Now, all they need to do is to wait for the result of the final game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, where both the sides will go hard for obvious reasons.
