New Zealand speedster Trent Boult who is expected to be one of the premier bowlers for the Kiwis in the upcoming World Cup stated that he has been a bit disappointed at not getting enough opportunities for the Delhi Capitals this season. However, he is not complaining as Delhi Capitals gears up to play the Eliminator clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He will be gearing up to play the eliminator clash and look to prove a point or two.

Trent Boult stated that it was all about being patient during the group stages when Kagiso Rabada was the preferred fast bowler for DC. He is still the leading wicket-taker in the tournament and it was an injury which ruled him out of the rest of the tournament. Trent Boult returned for the match against Chennai Super Kings after Rabada was injured. Meanwhile, it must be noted Trent Boult was the pick of the DC bowlers last season. However this season he had to wait till the last stages to get a match.

“Was looking to be physically fit and in the right head space to be prepared when I do get an opportunity. Had been working out in the gym and looked to find a purpose at training.

“The conditions are tough, and I looked to be ready for my chance. We got a squad which has the required balance and we have played consistent cricket. Have been a bit disappointed having not played too many games myself, but then the boys have done really well,” he added.

When asked what he will take with him from this season as he was not the first choice foreign player for his franchise, Boult said that it is a unique tournament and this kind of things keeps on happening.

“I think this is a unique tournament. We come together and create friendship and bonds and learn from each other. Also, I am still learning how to bowl in conditions which are foreign to me. It has been good fun.”

Like many other cricketers in the Delhi Capitals camp, Trent Boult feels that the inclusion of Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly had a major influence in promoting fearless cricket for DC. They were the perennial underachievers of the tournament and had made the playoffs 7 years ago.

“You can see the passion of those two guys. They are highly experienced guys and that is rubbing off on the players. It is just about creating an environment where the players go out and express themselves and be fearless and both Ricky and Sourav have done that really well,” he said.
