Royal Challengers Bangalore was able to post 161 runs. Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, who had missed the last match due to back spasm won the toss and decided to bowl first after once again calling the right side of the coin. Chennai had also got back the services of Dwayne Bravo whereas AB de Villiers also returned to the playing of the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
However, the hosts could not get off to a good start as they lost early wicket of their in-form skipper Virat Kohli. The talisman batsman went on to chase the ball, which was on the fifth stump line and got a faint edge, which was nicely taken by MS Dhoni. Deepak Chahar was over the moon after he had the big fish in his outswing web.

Parthiv Patel scored his 13th IPL fifty.
AB de Villiers was looking to hit the ground running on his comeback match. However, the linchpin batsman could not get to the pitch of the ball and miscued the big shot to Faf du Plessis.
Similarly, Akshdeep Nath once again could not make the most of a good start as he perished in an attempt to up the scoring rate for RCB. Ravindra Jadeja was able to scalp the wickets of AB de Villiers and Akshdeep Nath and conceded only 29 runs in his four overs quota.

Jadeja took two wickets.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings bowlers were able to keep a tight grip on the proceedings. On the other hand, RCB opener Parthiv Patel impressed with the bat. The experienced batsman was able to get sixes in his favourite hunting area – the mid-wicket.
The southpaw batsman scored four sixes and got his first boundary in the 14th over. Patel also brought his 13th IPL fifty, which was his second fifty of the season. However, he was dismissed on the very next after completing his personal milestone by Dwayne Bravo.
Surprisingly, the man in form Moeen Ali was held back and he batted at number six. Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis relayed a fine catch to Dhruv Shorey to dismiss Marcus Stoinis. Moeen Ali who batted at number six scored 16-ball 26.

After two consecutive sensational innings, Moeen Ali demoted tonight. It must make sense….to someone. #RCBvCSK #IPL

Moeen Ali faces 11 balls from 19 in a game where ABD and Virat get out in the first 7 overs. Someone needs to question where Kohli gets his decision making skills from. Especially when he’s riding our country’s chances at the #CWC19 #RCBvCSK

What a catch, Faf

Last two innings from Moeen Ali 66 (28) and 50 (32) batting at 4. He's in brilliant batting form, outscoring Kohli & AB, and for some reason RCB have dropped him down to 6 today. #RCBvCSK #IPL

Moeen who scored 50s in last two games @ 200 at number 4…didn't come to bat at 4 today…chutiye hai sab

RCB doing a KKR. Keeping the in-form batsman out in the dugout. Moeen Ali had to come in ahead of Stoinis. Do they even have team meetings? #RCBvCSK
