IPL 2019: Virat Kohli And I Play With Passion – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin’s Kings XI Punjab succumbed to their sixth defeat in 11 games in IPL 2019, losing to Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore by 17 runs in Match 42 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. It is their second loss in a row and fifth overall playing away from home.
Chasing a total of 203 to win, KXIP had a good start, and, were ahead in the game for a brief moment. But they lost out on the key moments, something which Ashwin feels that has been his team’s Achilles heel in their last few games in IPL 2019 so far.
During the press conference, the skipper of RCB was asked to express his statement on Virat Kohli, who looked aggressive right throughout the game. He even gave a send-off to the Kings XI skipper after grabbing a catch at the long-on region. However, Ashwin silenced the question by saying that it is a sheer passion for the game.
”I just played with Passion so does Virat Kohli. That’s it, which is as simple as that,” Ravichandran Ashwin said in the press conference.
End overs made the difference – Ravichandran Ashwin
Royal Challengers Bangalore would have thanked for the brilliant partnership between AB de Villiers and Marcus Stoinis, but KXIP skipper R. Ashwin refused to point at just one moment. He said that there were quite a few moments in the match which if they had grabbed, the result could have been different from how it panned out a 17-run loss for KXIP.
Marcus Stoinis scored 26 runs off 30 balls. So, I don’t think that was the parameter but AB de Villiers is someone, who definately makes the difference in the end overs. But, as i said, our execution is all over the place. Yes, when you are chasing a big total, you need one of the batsmen to score 70 or 80 but we lost the momentum in the middle overs.
Well, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out for Kings XI Punjab in the remaining games. So far, they won 5 games out of their 11 games in the tournament. They need to win the remaining three games in order to be in the contention for playoff berth.
