IPL 2019: Virat Kohli Blames Decision-Making For RCB’s Poor Run In Previous Seasons

When a team has likes of Vira Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle in its rank, you expect them to perform better in IPL on a consistent basis.

However, that wasn’t the case with RCB.

Despite having the trio at the same time, the team’s fortunes never touched high and despite playing for 11 seasons, they are yet to win their maiden title.

RCB are being led by Virat Kohli right since 2013 and it will the seventh year when he will be leading the side.

On a personal front as well, Kohli will aim to end the trophy drought in Bengaluru. The best performance of the team under Kohli came in 2016, where they played the final.

David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad edged them out in the summit clash to win the cup for the first time.

In 2017 and 2018, RCB finished at 8th and 6th place respectively.

Come this year, they have a new head coach in form of Gary Kirsten, who coached India to a World Cup win in 2011.

In his first press conference before the start of the season, RCB captain spoke about what has gone wrong with the team all throughout the past seasons and as per him, the decision making has been the problem with the team.

“The failure lies where decisions aren’t made properly. If I sit here and say our luck was bad, that won’t be right. You make your own luck, and if you make poor decisions and the other team makes good ones, you will lose. When we played big matches too, our decision-making wasn’t right,” he said.

IPL 2019 will be a crucial one for RCB as their fans have big hopes from the team and Kohi himself.

The Indian skipper has been on a roll on captaincy front for the national side for last one year.

Under him, India created history in Australia by becoming the first Asian team to win Test series there.

The fans expect Kohli to create history as RCB’s captain as well and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to fullfill the wish of the fans.

Apart from Kohli, and De Villiers, RCB have star players like Shimron Hetmyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Colin de Grnadhomme and Nathan Coulter-Nile, upon whom the team’s success will rely on.
