IPL 2019: VVS Laxman Reckons Manish Pandey’s Show Augurs Well for the SRH
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) mentor VVS Laxman is in full praise for the talented batsman Manish Pandey, who has struck a form of late, in the IPL 2019. Recently, Pandey has struck unbeaten 83* against Chennai, but his innings was overshadowed by Shane Watson’s 96. Overall, in the IPL 2019, Pandey has struggled to score runs.
On Tuesday, Watson faced 53 balls only to miss a ton by four runs before the CSK won the game by six wickets to reclaim their No.1 spot on the IPL points table.
Currently, SRH are placed fourth with five wins in 10 matches.
Laxman’s admiration for Manish Pandey:
It’s pertinent to mention that international players will return to their respective countries for national duty. He added Pandey returning to form will allow him to contribute in best possible way.
The veteran cricketer Laxman feels it’s a good sign for the Hyderabad-based franchise.
Besides, urged the local pool of players to deliver for the team while citing it as the golden opportunity.
“I think Manish striking form at the right moment augurs well, because this is the time we will start losing some of our internationals to World Cup camps. This is a glorious opportunity for our experienced Indian players to make their presence felt,” Laxman wrote in his column for ToI.
On most of the occasions, SRH was led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Ahead of the CSK-SRH clash, Kane Williamson flew home following the demise of his grandmother.
Warner, Bairstow laid a solid foundation for the SRH:
Former cricketer Laxman expressed satisfaction with the way David Warner had performed. He added it was pleasing to see Pandey striking the ball well.
“We had reason to be happy with our performance in the first half. David Warner made a hard-working half-century while it was refreshing and encouraging to see Manish Pandey back himself and produce a superb innings in the absence of Kane Williamson, who had sadly to rush back to New Zealand following the demise of his grandmother,” Laxman stated.
Pandey would be keen to play a quintessential role for the SRH. Owing to his seniority, he has a major role to play in the ongoing twelfth edition of the IPL.
On the other side, Warner is topping the list of most run-getters charts with 574. He is followed by his SRH teammate Jonny Bairstow with 445 runs.
Meanwhile, SRH will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 27 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. It’s altogether an important match for the visiting side.
