IPL 2019: Watch – Virat Kohli Gives Ravichandran Ashwin a Fiery Send-off
The 42nd clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab saw some heated exchanges between players of both the camps. With two animated skippers – Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin up against each other, it was quite obvious. Bangalore eventually held nerves to take home the tie by 17 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Batting first, AB de Villiers-fuelled mayhem, in the end, gave Royal Challengers Bangalore far more than what they’d have expected to score after their collapse in the middle overs. Bangalore scored 64 runs in the last 18 balls as Hardus Viljoen, and Shami just couldn’t get their lengths right to post 202 runs on the board. Previously, Moeen Ali got the home side off to a flier adding 70 runs in the powerplays despite losing Virat Kohli early. But once Parthiv got out, Moeen Ali and Akshdeep Nath also followed to reel at 84 for four.
Although it looked like a massive target, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle got Kings XI Punjab off to a flying start. They added 36 runs off the first three overs before Gayle holed out to long-on while trying to clear the ground for the second time in a row. Rahul and Mayank Agarwal kept the visitors in the game, but some timely wickets in the middle overs helped Royal Challengers Bangalore crawl back in the game. But Nicholas Pooran played some delightful shots to keep their team in the mix. With 30 needed off the last two, young seamer Navdeep Saini bowled an outstanding over to almost seal the tie. He removed both the set batsmen and gave away only 30 runs to give Umesh Yadav 27 runs to bowl at.
Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin struck the first ball for a six to make the game more interesting. But he holed out to Virat Kohli in the very next ball as the Bangalore skipper timed his jump to perfection to complete a brilliant catch. Kohli gave a fiery send-off to Ashwin and hurled a mouthful at Ashwin as the batsman was fuming in anger. On reaching the dugout Ashwin threw his gloves to the dugout.
