IPL 2019: We Have To Treat Every Match As A Final – Ben Stokes
It has been a dismal season for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2019. The failed to taste the victories on a regular basis, which saw them on the bottom half of the points table. Meanwhile, the swashbuckling all-rounder Ben Stokes urges Rajasthan Royals to treat every game as a final.
Rajasthan Royals has been pretty close to the victory in quite a few games but unfortunately, something or the other dented them from bagging those two crucial points. In one of those matches, Ben Stokes, himself, is a culprit when he bowled a poor death over against CSK.
We are in a must-win situation – Ben Stokes
Now, they need to win every game in the tournament in order to see themselves in the race for the trophy. Speaking of the same, Stokes asked his teammates to come up with an intent to steal those two points almost in every game.
He wants the team to play aggressive cricket in order to make things fall in place. Stokes, who missed a couple of games owing to injury would most probably make a return to the side against Mumbai Indians.
“Yes, we are in a must-win situation and we have to treat every match as final and which, I guess, puts any sort of negative thought process above our head. We have only one way to go and that is aggressive and positive,” Stokes said on the eve of the Mumbai Indians (MI) clash.
Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga are the best bowlers in the world:
Stokes also highlighted the poor death bowling of Rajasthan Royals, which has been the primary area of concern in the tournament. He believes that the bowlers need to have variations in their kitty, something which, Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah got in their arsenal.
“It is the most difficult part of the game. You need different skills as a bowler and keep on working in training. That is why bowlers like Bumrah and Malinga are best bowlers in the world. Unfortunately, we have not been able to get our death bowling quite right,” said the England all-rounder.
Well, it would be interesting to see how Rajasthan Royals approach the remaining part of the tournament. In the next assignment, they will take on Wounded Mumbai Indians at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
