Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer has stated they will be well prepared to lock horns against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings. Capitals, who had finished as the wooden spooners in the previous season, got off to a perfect start in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League. The Shreyas Iyer led side defeated three-times champions Mumbai Indians convincingly by 37 runs.

Delhi Capitals’ batsman Rishabh Pant had played a blistering knock of 78 runs from 27 balls. The combative southpaw batsman had blasted seven sixes and as many fours in his knock. Pant was at his best as he impressed with his pyrotechnics. Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals will have another difficult match at hands as they will take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings.

Delhi will look to continue their good form.

Delhi had come up with a collective effort in their season opener. Colin Ingram and Shikhar Dhawan provided the stability after two early blows. Subsequently, it was all about Rishabh Pant’s show.

“I feel it was a great match against Mumbai but we are looking forward to Tuesday where we will have another chance to build some confidence as we play the defending champions. It will obviously be a competitive match, but we need to make sure that we rest well, and prepare in the best way possible. CSK has a lot of experienced players in their side, and we saw how they beat RCB in their first match, so we will be doing our homework and looking to produce great performance in front of our fans at the Kotla,” said Shreyas Iyer in the pre-match press conference.

Delhi will need to be at the top of their game to beat CSK.

On the other hand, the Delhi bowlers were also right on the money. Mumbai Indians never got going in their run-chase despite Yuvraj Singh threatened to keep the hosts in the game. However, the visitors always had enough runs in their bank.

It was a perfect start for Shreyas Iyer’s side and it must have added a shot in the arm for the young side. Consequently, the Delhi team will like to come up with another collective effort.

Delhi Capitals will host Chennai Super Kings at their home ground of Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. The hosts will know that they will need to be at the top of their game if they are to beat a side like Chennai – as they were against Mumbai Indians.
