IPL 2020 Will See 21 Players Of Australia And England Participating

The players were already in a bio-secure bubble in England where they played 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs. They will now enter the IPL bio-bubble before joining their respective franchises for IPL 2020.

A picture of Australian David Warner and Pat Cummins in full-body PPE kits after landing in Dubai is going viral on social media and is trolled by reputed cricket expert commentator Boria Majumdar in a twitter handle.

21 players from England and Australia arrived in Dubai for the IPL 2020 and will now spend 36 hours self-isolating themselves in their hotel rooms. The matter of length of the quarantine period has been sorted out and comes as a big relief to fans and franchises as the players are available from the first game itself.

Chennai Super Kings (Josh Hazlewood and Tom Curran), Rajasthan Royals (Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer) will have all their players available from their first game along with for Kings XI Punjab that has Glenn Maxwell in its roster and Delhi Capitals that has Alex Carey and  Kolkata Knight Riders which has Eoin Morgan, Tom Banton and Pat Cummins in their squad.

Australia And England Players Have A Lesser Quarantine Period As They Have Already Spent Hours In Bio-Secure Bubbles In Limited Overs Series In England Tour

The quarantine duration of these players is much less than the 6 days maintained by players who went to UAE from India because the English and Aussies merely shifted from one bio-bubble in England to another for the IPL.

The players will now have to undergo a mandatory RT-PCR test for the novel coronavirus on their arrival.

“They have undergone one rapid test before boarding (the flight) and will undergo another on arrival. Otherwise, the robust testing protocols will be followed as usual. The rationale behind the move is that all the players are entering from one bio-bubble to another,” the veteran BCCI official confirmed.

IPL 2020 will be played in three venues namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah from September 19 to November 10 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The BCCI arranged a shortened 36-hour quarantine phase for these 21 cricketers after these foreign players had earlier written to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly requesting for a 3-day quarantine, instead of 6 days.
