Muttiah Muralitharan is one of the best blokes, however controversial, to ever be a part of the cricketing world. The Sri Lankan bowler who was questioned for his bowling action, was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the inaugural IPL in 2008.
The off-break bowler claimed 11 wickets from 15 matches in the opening season of the league. After the illustrious run with CSK, Muralitharan upped his game in the next two games picking 29 wickets from 25 games.
After playing for Chennai, the spin wizard never played many games in the premier league apart from the 2012 edition of the franchise-based tournament. That season he came in donning the jersey of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) saw him scalping 15 wickets in 10 games.
The last time he featured in the premier league was in IPL 2014 where he played five matches and picked up three wickets. Muralitharan was 42 years and 35 days old when he last featured in IPL which makes him the third-oldest cricketer to play in IPL history.
