ToggleThe 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) is just around the corner. And, like always the biddings at the IPL 2020 Auctions have been eventful for the Australian cricketers. However, the auctions of the 13th season of the cash-rich premier league attracted more of India’s domestic uncapped cricketers.
A total of 62 cricketers were bought by the eight franchises of the league. And while 29 were the total overseas cricketers bought by the teams; 29 uncapped players were roped in by the franchises. Ever since the inaugural 2008 season of the league, IPL has been a massive platform for the uncapped domestic players.
Players like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson have even paved their way through the IPL into the national side. And with India Under-19 undergoing through a fantastic year, the uncapped players were bound to attract the attention of the bidders in the IPL 2020 Auction.
Players like Priyam Garg (SRH), Ravi Bishnoi (KXIP), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR) were the centre of attention at the auctions. However, with India team struggling to have a full-time all-rounder by their side, four uncapped IPL players would be under the scanner.
Here are the four all-rounder players to watch out for in the IPL 2020:
Riyan Parag (RR):
Riyan Parag is the Assam cricketer who became the World Cup medalist at the age of 16 when India won the U-19 Cricket World Cup in 2018. Whereas, with 248 runs in seven matches, Riyan ended up as the lead run-scorer for Assam in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Parag’s game in the U-19 World Cup held in 2018 earned him a spot with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the IPL 2019. He was bought by Royals in the third round of the auction for INR 20 lakhs. The Rajasthan-based franchise is already famous for having the capability to pick the raw talent in the domestic fold.
The players like Ravindra Jadeja, Sanju Samson, and Jofra Archer were unknown to the world before they had joined the Royals.
The youngster is a batting all-rounder who is a fine leg-break bowler while having the capability to bat at No.6 or seven in the team. Although he did not play many matches in the IPL 2019, Riyan scored decent 160 runs studded with two wickets in the seven games in his debut season.
Meanwhile, in the game against Delhi Capitals, he became the youngest cricketer of the league to score a half-century.
With his effective spin bowling, Riyan could prove to be a game-changing player in the IPL 2020.
