In the 10th match of the IPL 2020, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Super Over at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai).

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma decided to field first after winning the toss. With the help of three 50+ knocks, Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to register the first innings total of 201/3 (20 overs). In reply, the defending champions also scored 201/5 (20 overs).

(Super Over)

In the Super over, RCB restricted Mumbai Indians to 7/1. Navdeep Saini conceded only one four in that Super Over but he also took the wicket of Kieron Pollard.

For RCB, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli started in the Super Over while Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah bowled that over. On the third ball, De Villiers was given out as he was caught behind but DRS rescued him. On the next ball, De Villiers hit a four. On the final ball, RCB had to score one run to win that match. Kohli secured the victory for RCB with a four on the final ball of that Super Over.

Mumbai Indians (MI) innings

The defending champions Mumbai Indians were struggling from the beginning as the RCB bowlers started the second innings of the match in a very disciplined way. Especially, the 20-year-old off-spinner Washington Sundar bowled superbly in the powerplay.

In the second over, Sundar took the wicket of captain Rohit Sharma (8). Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed by Isuru Udana for a duck in the next over. The defending champions only managed to score 35/2 in the mandatory powerplay.

On the fourth ball of the seventh over, opener Quinton de Kock lost his wicket for 14 runs as the leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed him.

Struggling on 39/3, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya put the 39 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. However, Hardik (15) was caught out at the boundary in the crucial moment as the Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa took that wicket.

However, Ishan and Kieron Pollard then handled the innings and set up the game-changing century partnership for the fifth wicket. Ishan completed his fifty with a sixer in 39 balls and continued his impressive performance.

In the 17th and 18th overs, that partnership managed to score 27 and 22 runs respectively, with the help of total 6 sixes and one four. Fiery Pollard completed his half-century in 20 balls with a sixer on the final ball of 18th over. In the final two overs, the defending champions had to score 31 runs to win that game.

Despite conceding a sixer, Navdeep Saini was very disciplined in the 19th over as he conceded 12 runs in that over. Mumbai Indians now had to score 19 runs in the final over.

After conceding two consecutive sixes on the third and fourth ball of the final over, Isuru Udana dismissed Ishan for 99 runs off 58 balls (2 fours and 9 sixes). Ishan-Pollard had the 119 runs partnership for the fifth wicket.

On the final ball, Mumbai Indians had to score five runs to win while Pollard managed to hit a four to tie the match. Pollard remained not out on 60 runs off just 24 balls (3 fours and 5 sixes).

Washington Sundar was definitely the bowler of the night as he had the bowling figures of 4-0-12-1 as he didn’t concede a boundary in his entire bowling spell. On the other hand, Isuru Udana was the only bowler for RCB to pick up more than one wicket in that innings as he had the bowling figures of 4-0-45-2.
