Skipper Rohit Sharma, who played his 193rd IPL match during this afternoon match and became the joint second-most capped player in IPL history, lost his wicket on the fifth ball of the day after scoring just six runs through an over-boundary. Sandeep Sharma got that early wicket.
But the other opener Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav handled that mandatory powerplay in a better way as they set up the 42 runs partnership for the second wicket. Siddarth Kaul took the wicket of Yadav for 27 runs (18 balls) on the 5.5 overs.
Wicket-keeper batsman De Kock scored 50 runs off 32 balls. He and Ishan Kishan controlled the innings as they built up the solid 78 runs partnership for the third wicket. In the 14th over, Rashid Khan broke that partnership after he caught and bowled De Kock, who scored 67 runs off just 39 balls (4 fours and 4 sixes). Kishan scored 31 runs off 23 balls before Sandeep Sharma dismissed him in the 15th over.
In the late moment, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard quickly built up the 41 runs partnership for the fifth wicket. While Hardik scored 28 runs off 19 balls (2 fours and 2 sixes) before Kaul bowled him, Pollard remained not out on 25 runs off 13 balls (3 sixes).
Krunal Pandya only faced the final four balls of that innings where he hit two sixes and two fours to score 20 not out off only 4 balls.
