IPL 2020, Match 35: SunRisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders (SRH vs KKR) – Highlights
SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) innings
SRH this time started their innings with the new opening combination as Jonny Bairstow started the innings with Kane Williamson. They built up a strong start with the 58 runs partnership for the opening wicket.
But they lost the momentum after the powerplay. On the very first ball after the first strategic time-out of that innings, Williamson lost his wicket after scoring 29 runs off 19 balls (4 fours and only six). Soon, Priyam Garg (4) and Bairstow (36 runs off 28 balls; 7 fours) lost their wickets which suddenly created the pressure on the chasing side.
During that chase, captain David Warner came to bat at the no.4 position. Meanwhile, Manish Pandey also failed to rebuild that innings as he became Lockie Ferguson’s third victim in that match after scoring just 6 runs. Vijay Shankar was also dismissed cheaply after scoring just 7 runs.
However, skipper Warner handled the middle-order pressure while Abdul Samad made some useful contribution to stretch the game to the final over.
SRH had to score 18 runs in the final over of the match to win that game while Andre Russell got the ball in that over. Warner smashed three consecutive fours from the second to fourth balls of that final over. While SRH had to score two runs on the final ball, David Warner-Rashid Khan managed to take a single through a leg-bye to tie that match.
Warner remained not out on 47 runs off 33 balls. On the other hand, Lockie Ferguson finished that innings with the bowling figures of 4-0-15-3.
Scorecard:
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) innings
KKR openers Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi provided a good start but both of them lost their wickets after getting well settled down. Later, in the 12th over, Rashid Khan dismissed Gill for 36 runs off 37 balls (5 fours).
Vijay Shankar got Nitish Rana in the next over, who score 29 off 20 balls (3 fours and only six). Once again Andre Russell failed to shine with the bat as Natarajan took that crucial wicket while the Caribbean all-rounder scored only 9 runs.
In the last five overs, captain Eoin Morgan and previous captain Dinesh Karthik handled KKR innings and set up the 58 runs partnership for the fifth wicket. While Morgan was dismissed on the final ball of that innings after scoring 34 runs off 23 balls (3 fours and only six), Karthik was not out on 29 runs off 14 balls (2 fours and 2 sixes).
Thangarasu Natarajan was the only SRH bowler to pick up more than one wicket in that innings but he was an expensive bowler (4-0-40-2).
