Delhi Capitals (DC) reached the Indian Premier League (IPL) final for the first time after beating SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Sheikh Zayed Stadium (Abu Dhabi) in the Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2020.

Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer chose to bat first after winning the toss. They scored 189/3 (20 overs) at the end of the first 20 overs. Later, they restricted SRH to 172/8 (20 overs) as Delhi Capitals won that match by 17 runs.

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) innings

On the first ball of the second over of the innings, captain and opener David Warner was bowled by Kagiso Rabada for just 2 runs. Though another opener Priyam Garg (17 off 12 balls) and Manish Pandey (21 off 14 balls started their batting in that powerplay in the speedy ways, both of them were dismissed in the fifth over as Marcus Stonis took those wickets.

Then Kane Williamson and Jason Holder put the 46 runs partnership for the fourth wicket but Holder lost his wicket for just 11 runs as Axar Patel took that wicket.

Williamson and Abdul Samad then controlled the innings and set up the 57 runs partnership for the fifth wicket. Williamson completed his fifty in 35 balls. While the Kiwi star was batting in a dangerous way, Stoinis took that wicket in 17th over as Williamson was dismissed after scoring 67 runs off 45 balls (5 fours and 4 sixes).

Later, in the 19th over, Kagiso Rabada secured the victory path for Delhi Capitals after picking up three wickets in three successive legal deliveries (delivered one wide ball between those moments). Abdul Samad scored 33 off 16 balls before Rabada took his wicket in the 19th over.

Among the Delhi Capitals bowlers, Kagiso Rabada (4/29) got four wickets and Marcus Stoinis (3/26) bagged three wickets.

Delhi Capitals (DC) innings

The openers Marcus Stoinis and Shikhar Dhawan provided a strong start for Delhi Capitals. Batting strongly, they set up the total of 65/0 at the end of the powerplay. They stretched that opening partnership to 86 runs before Stoinis was bowled by Rashid Khan for 38 runs off 27 balls (5 fours and only six).

Then Dhawan and captain Shreyas Iyer put the 40 runs partnership for the second wicket. During that partnership, Dhawan completed his fifty in 26 balls with an over-boundary. While Dhawan continued his strong batting performance after completing his fifty, skipper Iyer lost his wicket in the 14th over after Jason Holder dismissed him for 21 runs off 20 balls (only four).

Then Dhawan and Shimron Hetmyer built up the 52 runs partnership for the third wicket. In the 19th over, Sandeep Sharma finally dismissed Dhawan, who scored 78 runs off 50 balls (6 fours and 2 sixes). Hetmyer played a firing knock as he remained not out on 42 runs off 22 balls (4 fours and only six).
