Sunil Gavaskar, the former great Indian cricketer, has expressed that under the coaching of Ricky Ponting, Delhi Capitals’ youngsters Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will groom better which will eventually help them in the journey for Team India.
Ricky Ponting is the three-time World Cup winner for Australia. Under his captaincy, the Australian team was almost invincible, ruling the cricket world. He joined Delhi Capitals in 2018. Subsequently, in the last edition, the team first time reached the playoff in the IPL history.

Sunil Gavaskar said that Ponting would help these players learn how to be fully committed to the game. He is confident that the youngsters will learn more about cricket under the former Australian captain.
“You know that Ricky Ponting will expect a hundred percent from each player from each match. And thus I feel that our young Indian players like Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will benefit by working with Ricky Ponting. This will not only help them in the IPL but will also help them while playing for India.
While learning under Ponting, they will understand that cricket is such a sport that at every moment and every session if you give your hundred percent, then you can succeed more often than not,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
Rishabh Pant will be under less pressure: Sunil Gavaskar
Sunil Gavaskar said that Rishabh Pant will be under less pressure because currently, he is not under the scanner. He has a great chance to perform freely in IPL 2020, as per the veteran.
“Rishabh Pant has got a great chance in this IPL 2020. The good thing is that in the lead up to this IPL, there is not much discussion about him. This means that he will not be under much pressure as there will not be much expectations from Rishabh Pant. This is a good thing because when there is no pressure you can play with freedom,” Sunil Gavaskar maintained.
Delhi Capitals will play their first match of the tournament against Kings XI Punjab on 20 September.
