IPL 2020: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rajasthan Royals – RR Predicted XI

After registering two consecutive victories in their first two matches, Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in their last match in Dubai. Their batting line up fell like a heap of card while their bowling was also not up to the mark.

Coming off from a heartbreaking loss, Rajasthan Royals will collide against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday (October 3) in Abu Dabhi. This will be the first face-off between the two franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Let’s take a look at how RR playing XI will shape in to combat RCB’s attack.

Rajasthan Royals Predicted XI against Royal Challengers Bangalore:

Top-order: Jos Buttler (wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson

Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal are likely to open the inning for Rajasthan Royals against RCB. Yashasvi, who is playing the first IPL season, was dropped from the XI after just playing the first match against CSK while Steve Smith opened the innings with Buttler in the last two matches. But Smith is need in the middle-order because Robin Uthappa is not doing well. So, the youngster might be restored as the opener.

In the first two matches of Sharjah’s short boundary, Sanju Samson found it easy to hit sixes and earned Man of the Match back to back to guide his team to victory. The wicketkeeper-batsman, however, could not score runs in the big boundary of Dubai against KKR. Albeit he is a core of RR’s batting order. The right-handed batsman will want to get it right against the RCB while batting at no. 3.

Middle-order: Steven Smith (c), Riyan Parag

Steven Smith is likely to demote himself to number four position in the playing XI after Robin Uthappa has failed to score runs in the middle. He would try to stabilize the innings which was lacking in their last match. Overall, batting as the opener, Smith has so far scored 122 runs at the strike rate of 150.61.

Riyan Parag, the young talent, had caught the eyes for his ability to send the ball out of the park with ease. However, so far, he had failed to do so for RR in three previous matches, registering 6, 0,  and 1 runs respectively. To strengthen the Royals’ middle-order, he needs to step up and give his best in coming matches.

Allrounder: Rahul Tewatia, Tom Curran

After starring for Rajasthan Royals against Kings XI Punjab, Rahul Tewatia gave away his wicket cheaply against KKR. The bowling allrounder is also not being efficiently used by the captain with the ball. In his one over bowled against KKR, he picked the wicket of Nitish Rana but was not give another over to bowl. Now with more batting options, Smith will look him to give the leg spinner more opportunity for bowling.

Tom Curran has given valuable contribution with both bat and ball. He has picked one wicket in each in the last three matches while also showed his batting skill against KKR. The fast bowling allrounder remained unbeaten and scored 54 runs to decrease the margin of defeat. With powerful batting down the order, he is an asset to the team.

Bowlers: Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Ankit Rajpoot, Jaydev Unadkat

Jofra Archer’s battle against Virat Kohli will be the one to look out for on Saturday. While Virat Kohli is struggling to score runs, Archer has, so far, had a good outing for Rajasthan Royals in this season. In the last three matches, he has picked three wickets while has starred with the batting.

Shreyas Gopal, the Rajasthan Royals leg spinner, has not got the expected start of the tournament. He has only picked one wicket in last three matches while also being expensive. He will have to pick the right line and length early against RCB to get things on track.

Ankit Rajpoot has impressed with his performance. He has scalped the vital wickets of KL Rahul and Andre Russell to change the momentum of the game for RR. The pacer will maintain his spot in the playing XI against RCB.

Jaydev Unadkat has been given a place in the XI even though he has not produced the desired results. In the first two matches, he went wicketless while CSK batsman Faf du Plessis has badly beaten the pacer. But he got his wicket of IPL 2020 in the form of Sunil Narine. The Rajasthan Royals bowler will be looking to unleash more attacking performance against RCB.
