Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will play their first match of the tournament against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 21. They both are the finalist of the IPL 2016 but SRH won the title.
RCB is still on their way to grab the coveted trophy and might reach their aim this season. They have also recruited new head coach Simon Katich and Director of Cricket Mike Hesson for this season.
Here, in this article, we have discussed RCB’s predicted XI against SRH:
Openers: Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal
RCB’s best buy in the IPL 2020 auction was Aaron Finch. The Australian captain will give them a stable start. Also, his performance in the recently ended ODI and T20I series was outstanding which is happy news for them.
Devdutt Padikkal has no experience of playing international cricket but he had a blast in the last domestic season. So, he will be on the list. Parthiv Patel, who is also an opener, might have to warm bench this season.
Middle order: Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers
Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers form the core of RCB’s batting attack. They are the cornerstone of the franchise which would give hard to bowlers as both are good against spinners.
But this season, AB de Villiers might have an extra responsibility of wicketkeeping as Parthiv Patel is expected to be no in XI after Aaron Finch’s inclusion.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli will no doubt, as usual, will break records. The chase master not only play as an accumulator but also as a finisher
Allrounder: Shivam Dube, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, Moeen Ali
The big hitter Shivam Dube has the chance to prove his batting power in the upcoming edition. Although he hasn’t much experience under his belt, he is capable of plundering the big shots whenever required. In only four IPL games, he maintained a strike rate of 121.
In only 61 IPL games, Chris Morris has 68 wickets at an economy rate of 7.99. With the bat, the Proteas all-rounder boasts of a jaw-dropping strike rate of 157.62. Number six seems to be the perfect spot for him to bat.
Washington Sundar has delivered promising performances in the past. He can accelerate the innings as well as his spin bowling will help to demolish SRH’s batting attack.
Moeen Ali had an ordinary T20I series both with bat and ball before entering the IPL. His off-spin bowling would be an advantage for the team.
Bowlers: Dale Steyn, Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini
Dale Steyn is one of the best pacers in the world. He would be expected to be in the playing XI but injuries might halt his action throughout the tournament. But he is the go-to man for the captain when comes to picking wickets at crunch situation. The experience keeps him ahead of all other members.
Navdeep Saini is the rising star of Indian cricket. He has improved a lot as he is getting more and more experience of playing international cricket since he made his debut last year. Sunil Gavaskar even said that the IPL 2020 was an opportunity for the youngster to spearhead RCB’s bowling attack.
Yuzvendra Chahal is the trump card for Kohli. He would be tough to play in the UAE because the condition favours spin bowling. Gavaskar has named him the match-winner for RCB in the 13th edition of the league.
