Fielding coach of Rajasthan Royals Dishant Yagnik, who had tested positive of COVID-19 has recovered in time and joined his squad in UAE. The 37-year-old coach had been tested positive on 12th of August when he undergone mandatory check-up before departure. BCCI had stated in its guidelines that the players and support staff need to be tested negative twice before travelling to UAE for IPL 2020.

The 13th edition of IPL was originally scheduled to kick off from March 29, however, got postponed indefinitely after April 15 due to the spike in coronavirus cases in the country. The Rajasthan Royals squad had reached UAE on 20th of August.

Rajasthan Royals tweeted the arrival of Dishant Yagnik to UAE

Yagnik had tested positive for Covid-19 in his hometown of Udaipur, after which he was in a mandatory quarantine for 14 days. He has now recovered after testing negative twice and also cleared his fitness test to travel to UAE to join the RR squad. However, he will still have to quarantine for 6 days and test negative thrice in UAE to finally meet the squad.

Dishant Yagnik is a former wicket-keeping batsman who made 170 runs in 25 IPL games. He made his first-class debut in 2004 and scored 1,754 runs in 50 matches at an average of 24.70 with a century and nine fifties.

Rajasthan Royals are ready for IPL 2020 with new captain Steve Smith

Rajasthan Royals had traded captain Ajinkya Rahane to Delhi capitals for this term and appointed Steve Smith as the leader. RR squad members including Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Tom Curran will travel to UAE on 17th September to join the squad. They are in England to play a bilateral series between Australia and England which will conclude on 16th September.

The IPL 2020 will begin from September 19 till November 10, a total 53-day campaign will see all the 8 teams play in UAE. The venue this time is UAE and matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
