IPL 2022: 4 Players Who Have Let Their Teams Down: Expectations are sky high from big names in the Indian Premier League. In the most competitive cricket league of the world, the cricket fraternity expects the big players to deliver for their respective franchises. On most of the occasions, those players deliver as per expectations. But it is not possible for even those world-class players to deliver all the time and the ongoing season has also seen some big names letting their teams down. Through this article we are taking a look at 4 players who have let their teams down in IPL 2022.

4. Rohit Sharma:

One of the best batsmen in the world, Rohit Sharma has failed to hit top gear in the ongoing season. Rohit’s struggle is one of the reasons behind his team Mumbai Indians’ poor show this year. The captain has completely failed to lead from the front. In 12 matches so far, he has managed to score only 218 runs at a paltry average of 18.17. What makes his struggle pretty clear is the fact that he has managed to hit only 9 sixes in 12 games.

With the captain struggling, Mumbai Indians have also failed to do well this season. Earlier this season, they became the first team in the history of IPL to lose their first 7 games. They went on to lose one more before opening their account. Mumbai Indians also became the first team to be eliminated from IPL 2022. At present, they are languishing at the bottom of the points table with 3 wins from 12 games.

3. Virat Kohli:

Expectations were sky high from Virat Kohli in the ongoing season. For the first time since 2013, Kohli was set to play in the IPL without the burden of captaincy on his shoulder. The cricketing fraternity was expecting fireworks from King Kohli but the star batsman has failed to live up to the expectations so far. Kohli averages less than 20 this season. In 13 games so far, he has scored only 236 runs with a strike-rate of less than 114.

In those 13 games, he has managed to hit only 5 sixes. Talking about RCB, they are still in contention for a playoffs berth but their fate is not entirely in their own hands. At present, they are fifth in the points table with 7 wins from 13 games. RCB would be hoping that their former captain delivers in the last league and then go on to fire them to their first ever IPL title.

2. Kane Williamson:

Kane Williamson has been one of the biggest disappointments of the season. The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper has performed disastrously in the ongoing competition. Despite playing 12 games, his strike-rate is yet to touch the 100-mark. In 12 games so far, he has managed to score only 208 runs at an average of 18.91 and a strike-rate of 92.86. Talking about his team, SRH are still in the playoffs race but their fate is not in their hands.

At present, they are eighth in the points table with 5 wins from 12 games. Even if they go on to win their remaining two league games, they would need other results to go their way too. Williamson will be desperate to regain his form and lead his team from the front in the must-win games.

1. Ravindra Jadeja:

The ongoing season of IPL turned out to be an absolute disaster for Ravindra Jadeja. Before the start of the tournament, Jadeja had become the number one Test allrounder in the world and was in scintillating form across formats. Chennai Super Kings also made him their captain. But things went downhill after that. He not only failed to deliver as a captain but also failed to do well with the bat and ball. Such was his struggle on the field that he resigned from captaincy midway through the tournament.

Talking about his performance this year, Jadeja played 10 games before an injury ended his season. In those 10 games, he scored only 116 runs at an average of 19.33 and a strike-rate of 118.37. With the ball, he picked up 5 wickets in 10 games.
