Kedar Jadhav has spent a lot of time with the Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad during his days in the Maharastra team. Speaking at the Jiocinema, Jadhav said that the CSK opener is a quality player and added he has done exceptionally well in domestic cricket.

“Ruturaj is a very quality player and I feel after the World Cup, he should get consistent chances the way he has performed across formats, be it Ranji Trophy or T20s with the IPL. I do think he is a promising young talent,” Kedar Jadhav said.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Is The Best Option As CSK Captain After MS Dhoni – Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav feels Ruturaj Gaikwad is the ideal successor for MS Dhoni in Chennai Super Kings. As they were a lot of talks around Ben Stokes, Ravindra Jadeja, and  Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captaincy option of the four-time champions once the legendary MS Dhoni hang up his boots.

“Ruturaj can be the future CSK captain once Dhoni retires. Ben Stokes is also a contender alongside Jadeja. But for that, Stokes needs to perform well this season and also you have an issue with availability. So I think Ruturaj Gaikwad is the best option as CSK captain after Dhoni,” Kedar Jadhav said.

Ruturaj Gaikwad had a stunning 2021 season scoring 635 runs which helped him break into the Indian team, but had a very limited opportunity in the Indian team. Gaikwad has scored 197 runs from four matches with an average of 65.66 at a strike rate of 155.11 and is the fourth leading run-scorer in the league so far.

Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their 5th match of the league stage. Ruturaj Gaikwad will look to continue his fine form for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023.
