Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer credited their head coach Chandrakant Pandit for his influence and tactics in the team and asserted that the two-time champions are playing as a unit in IPL 2023. The 28-year-old played an astonishing knock of 83 runs off just 40 balls setting up the perfect platform for Rinku Singh’s heroics in the last over.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Venkatesh Iyer lauded their head coach for the initial success in the league stage and said that the team is sticking together as a family in wins and losses and reckoned that the coach is constantly working to build the unit that plays together in any kind of situations.

“I am very happy for Chandrakant Pandit sir, he is a stalwart in the modern game. And using his tactics at the international level, I can bet my life on the fact that KKR is playing there as a unit. Everyone in the KKR team is sticking together as a family. That is something that he is constantly working on, to build a unit, to build a family and that is very satisfying to see that work,” Venkatesh Iyer said.

“He is my domestic coach. I know a lot of things that he does not just on the field, but off the field as well. He believes in two things, fitness, and discipline, which are very important in playing cricket. He is ethically very strong as well. We are a very disciplined side on and off the field, that is the culture he has built in the team,” Venkatesh Iyer said.

Kolkata Knight Riders had a massive change in the coaching setup as they brought in domestic coaching legend Chandrakant Pandit as their head coach for IPL 2023 replacing Brendon McCullum. He has done wonders for them so far in the tournament, with many players expressing their gratitude to work under him.
