West Indian Superstar Chris Gayle revealed his favourite batting partner in the Royal Challengers Bangalore team as he picked Indian maestro Virat Kohli over South African batting legend AB de Villiers. Ahead of IPL 2023, RCB honoured Chris Gayle and Ab de Villiers by inducting both into the RCB’s “Hall of Fame”.
Chris Gayle has some sweet memories of him with RCB during his playing days, where he formed the core of the team’s batting unit along with the likes of Ab de Villiers and Virat Kohli.
“I opened the batting more with Virat, so I am going to pick Virat,” Chris Gayle said.
During his time with the Bangalore side, Gayle opened the batting side several times with Virat Kohli and also had many memorable partnerships with ABD as well. Chris Gayle revealed an interesting conversation alongside Virat Kohli, where he wanted to go aggressive from the ball one and he would remind him about his T20 stats to Kohli during his batting.
“Virat tried to dictate too much when I was batting and used to be like, ‘Oh Chris, come on, take it from ball one, and I used to say, Hey youngster, take it easy. I have like 15 T20 centuries, okay, so I know what I am doing here, so take it easy, but it was fun to bat with,” Chris Gayle added.
T20 batting legend Chris Gayle played for seven seasons–and produced some astounding performances for RCB in the Chinnaswamy stadium. Gayle’s best score for RCB is an unbeaten 175.
The former West Indies skipper represented the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings during his playing days in the cash-rich league.
