Mumbai Indians hero of the match Tim David termed Suryakumar Yadav’s innings as a “special one” as he showed an aggressive intent from the ball one taking on Rajasthan Royals best bowler Ravichandran Ashwin for a maximum on his first ball of the innings and revealed that he was hungry to finish the games for the five-time champions.
The Australian hard-hitter revealed that conditions were beautiful to bat on and said that the team had the belief to chase down any big total as the team has the firepower in their batting order and lauded Suryakumar Yadav for his aggressive batting in the middle over to tilt the game in the favour of the five-time champions.
“When batting conditions are so good, like tonight here at the Wankhede, we believe we can chase anything down, especially with the power we have got throughout our batting order. We saw Surya come out and play an amazing inning. We get accustomed to expecting that from him. But that was something special, hitting his first ball for six,” Tim David said.
Suryakumar came into the tournament with poor form but is slowly getting back to his usual best with free-flowing batting in the last couple of games for the five-time champions which helped them to chase down the total against the Rajasthan Royals. The 32-year-old played a scintillating knock of 55 runs off just 29 runs before being dismissed by Trent Boult in the 16th over mark.
Tim David said that last year he tried to establish himself in the team, as it was debut season for the five-time champions and now he wanted to do special things for his side on batting and also on the field communicating his ideas with bowlers and finding out the best way for the team to move forward in the league.
“Last year was my first experience of the IPL and I was hungry to make a name for myself and establish myself in the team. But now, every time I put on the shirt, I try to win the game for Mumbai. Whether that’s by trying to communicate with the bowlers or finding out the best way, anything I do is for the team. To have a nice individual performance is amazing,” he said.
