Australia star Glenn Maxwell has delivered a worrying update about himself ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The star allrounder is currently in India, gearing up to represent Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023.
Fitness wise, Glenn Maxwell is not at his hundred percent at the moment. The 34-year old remained on the sidelines for three months after suffering a leg injury in November last year and recently made his returned to competitive cricket. He was sidelined after suffering a broken leg in “a freak accident” at a birthday party.
He had fractured his fibula and had to undergo surgery. As per media reports, he had suffered the freak injury after he slipped while running in a backyard with the person celebrating the birthday. In February, he finally returned to action through the Sheffield Shield clash between Victoria and South Australia. And on March 17, he finally played his first international game since November.

Glenn Maxwell delivers update on his fitness:
Glenn Maxwell might have made a comeback to competitive cricket but he has made it clear that he is still not at his best fitness wise. Speaking ahead of IPL 2023, the star allrounder has revealed that he will not be hundred percent fit while plying his trade for RCB.
“The legs are okay. It’s alright. It’s still going to be a couple of months before I am at my 100% but hopefully, it is good enough to get through this tournament and still do the job,” Glenn Maxwell was quoted as saying by the RCB website.
“In the last couple of years, that is everything that players have talked about, so finally to get back here after a couple of years, it’s very exciting and we are all pretty pumped to play in front of our home fans finally,” he added.
The Australia star is a crucial player for RCB and the franchise would be hoping that he lives up to the expectations this year as they look to win their first IPL title. After joining the franchise in 2021, Maxwell scored 513 runs in IPL 2021 before scoring 301 runs last season. IPL 2023 is scheduled to begin on March 31.
