Mumbai Indians youngster Nehal Wadhera revealed that he enjoys batting at the top of the order for his team and is happy with his performance to finish the game for his side against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday. The 22-year-old is enjoying a good season with the five-time champions scoring 183 runs in his six innings in IPL 2023.
The Punjab youngster was once again promoted up the order in the absence of their seasoned campaigner Tilak Varma, who missed out the second consecutive due to an injury, formed an excellent partnership alongside their vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav to chase down a total of 200 runs within 17 overs.

Speaking to the broadcasters, after their thumping win over Royal Challengers Bangalore, Nehal Wadhera said that it was fun batting in the top order and was elated that he was able to get back-to-back half-centuries in the cash-rich league and said that he was confident of finishing the game for his side as the track was good for batting.
“It was fun batting up the order. Got an opportunity again and got back-to-back fifties. Happy about that but happier my team won. Wankhede is such a ground where 200, as you saw in the previous game, we can chase 200-plus. So we had that confidence, I had that within me that if I bat to the end I can finish the game,” Nehal Wadhera said.
Mumbai Indians, who are known for identifying unknown players have unearthed a new talent in the form of Nehal Wadhera as he played astonishing strokes against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore to showcase his talent to the cricketing fraternity.
I Tried To Copy Some Of His Shots But I Cannot – Nehal Wadhera On Playing Alongside Suryakumar Yadav
Nehal Wadhera revealed that he tried to copy down a few shots of the 360-degree batter Suryakumar Yadav during his innings and said that World No.1 T20 batter wanted him to just keep up the momentum in the game so that they can finish the game early and added that he learned scoops shot for him during the practice session.

“Surya bhai is a top-quality player, I tried to copy some of his shots but I cannot. He said, ‘Just keep playing, just keep playing and we’ll finish the game early’. In the previous game, I played a scoop, which I didn’t use to play, so I learned from him,” Nehal Wadhera added.
Mumbai Indians have registered their sixth victory in the league stage to give themselves the best chance to qualify for the playoffs and will take on defending champions Gujarat Titans in the next game on May 12 in Wankhede Stadium.
