Former Australian Speedster Brett Lee lauded Gujarat Titans vice-captain Rashid Khan for his match-winning performance against Rajasthan Royals in Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday. The Afghan bowler bowled exceptionally well to pick up three wickets and conceded just 14 runs from his four overs against Sanju Samson-led side.
Gujarat Titans bowled out the 2022- finalist Rajasthan Royals for 118 in 17.5 overs, as their Rajasthan batters displayed poor batting performance on a wicket that favoured the batter, as Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed picking up important wickets in the middle over and in the chase, the defending champions chased down the total within 14 overs to move into the top of the points table in IPL 2023.
Speaking on Jiocinema, Cricketer-turned-commentator Brett Lee heaped praise on Rashid Khan for brilliance against Rajasthan Royals and reckons that he proved once again why he is among the best T20 player in the world.
“Well, Rashid is loved all across the world. What an asset he is for his own country. He can demonstrate his athleticism, the way he out-thinks batsmen, I think he bowled beautifully again today,” Brett Lee said.
“He’s had a bit of a hard run in the last two or three games but today he proved again why he is among the best in the world. 3/14 in four overs and once again he was outstanding,” he added.
The defending champions’ bowlers have played a vital role in their performance in the league as Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shami have picked up 18 wickets each in the ten games being the joint-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2023.
Gujarat Titans have been the best team in the league stage so far, winning seven out of the ten games in IPL 2023, and are currently at the top of the points table with a clear distance from the second-placed team.

Brett Lee hailed Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya for his quick-fire innings to finish the game for his side with six overs to spare, which helped to take a huge leap in the net run rate. The Indian all-rounder played an explosive knock of 39 runs off just 15 balls including three sixes and three fours to finish the game for his side.
“Tonight, he took it upon himself, took a few risks, and got it (the target),” Brett Lee added.
Defending Champions Gujarat Titans will look to continue their winning momentum in the league stage and they will take on Lucknow Super Giants on May 7 in the famous Narendra Modi Stadium.
