Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star all-rounder Moeen Ali believes their skipper MS Dhoni will play next year for the four-time champions and hailed the 41-year-old for his brilliant finishing skills in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Speaking to Espncricinfo, about the possibility of MS Dhoni playing for Chennai Super Kings in the next season of IPL, Mooen Ali feels that Dhoni would play for the team with the kind of form, he is currently playing. He reckons that he can play for at least the next two to three years for the team.

“He could definitely play again next year. The way he’s playing, I don’t think it’ll be his batting that stops him from playing, even if it’s in two, three years,” Moeen Ali said.

On the 200th match as skipper against Rajasthan Royals, MS Dhoni played brilliantly well to pull back his team from the precarious situation when they were reeling at 113/6. He remained unbeaten on 32 off just 17 balls against Sanju Samson-led side.

“I wasn’t surprised at how he played [against Rajasthan]. I’ve been watching him in the nets, and he’s been batting unbelievably well. It’s just amazing to see somebody at that age. It’s not easy when you come in so late – people forget that a lot of the time, but that’s what makes him so good at his role,” speaking on his performance against Rajasthan Royals, he stated.

With 21 runs to chase in the final over, MS Dhoni looked at his absolute best to smash back-to-back sixes, to give them a chance, before Sandeep Sharma nailed the yorkers in the final three balls.

They’re Very Similar In How Clear And Calm In Their Approach – Moeen Ali

Mooen Ali, who has worked closely with two modern-day great captains MS Dhoni and Eoin Morgan, spoke about the similarity between the two captains.

Besides, he stated both of them are calm and clear about their decision in the field and added that MS Dhoni takes most of his decision based on gut feeling, whereas, Morgan largely depends on data for his verdict in the match.

“They’re very similar in how clear and calm they are, but also very different. Their interests and all that is very different. The biggest difference? MS does most of his captaincy on gut feel, on the day. It could be a bit like that with Morgs too, but he was also very data-driven. But they’re both so calm. In terms of mannerisms, they are very, very, very similar,” Moeen Ali added.

MS Dhoni will be keen to score highly against the Faf du-Plessis-led side. Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on four-time champions Chennai Super Kings in a high-octane clash on April 17 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
