Former England skipper Eoin Morgan believes Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni’s absence will be felt massively once he decides to hang his boots from Cricket. The 41-year-old hinted about his last season in the cash-rich league during the post-match presentation against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The 2019-World Cup winner Eoin Morgan, who is currently part of Jiocinema in broadcasting the IPL 2023, said that the former Indian skipper is enjoying his time in the Chepauk with a large number of fans turning to support him during his last phase of cricketing career.

“I think that was the biggest thing to take away from the interview. Just his energy around what he was talking about. It really oozed a lot of class, but also showed how much enjoyment he was getting from leading this group,”  Eoin Morgan said.

MS Dhoni had a huge reception at the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League as this edition is potentially seen as his last season as a player in the CSK colours and said that the former Indian skipper looks to good mental space passing on the valuable advice to the youngsters around him.

“In the changing room, you can see how animated he is during the game. Just after the game, he is passing on all the information he has gained over the years. Actually, he is unbelievably humble to see he was in the wrong position. He wasn’t,” he added.

With the bat so far in the league, MS Dhoni looked in exceptional touch against Gujarat Titans  (14* off 7 balls) and Lucknow Super Giants  (12 off 3 balls) in the small cameos. In their defeat against Rajasthan Royals, he played brilliantly well to pull back his team from the precarious situation when they were at 113/6. He remained unbeaten on 32 off just 17 balls, but could not complete the chase with Sandeep Sharma nailing the yorkers in the final three balls.

Eoin Morgan said that MS Dhoni is grateful for the love he received from the fans over the years and added that everyone will realize his value once he leaves the game. On Friday, Dhoni hinted at retirement when he said he is grateful for the opportunity to enjoy the support from the Chennai crowd in the ‘final stages’ of his career.

“It’s just great to see. They are very grateful for him as a leader. But you will only realize how much he is missed when he goes. And that’s going to be felt. His impact of leading key players in the side and the key performers. They will miss him when he finishes,” Eoin Morgan added.

MS Dhoni recently led CSK for the 200th time and became the only captain in the 16-year-long history of the CSK to achieve the feat. CSK is currently placed third in the IPL 2023 points table. They have won four of their first six matches in the IPL.
