Former Indian Head Coach Ravi Shastri took a  dig at former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly over Delhi Capitals’ straight 5th loss in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. David Warner-led side made a disastrous start to the tournament as they lost five consecutive matches on a trot in IPL 2023.

Ravi Shastri, who is currently part of broadcasting for IPL 2023, engaged in a conversation alongside the former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull, where he spoke about Delhi Capitals’ struggle in the league stages stating that it would be difficult for David Warner-side to make comeback in the tournament.

“Problem now with Delhi Capitals is, especially with the way the other teams are going, you lose four on the trot, it becomes very, very difficult to come back,”  Ravi Shastri said on-air.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Simon Doull said that lot of people in the Delhi Capitals dressing room are used to losing referring to Ricky Ponting, Sourav Ganguly, and Shane Watson, who form the core management in the Delhi Capitals side.

“There are people in that dugout that are not used to losing. Ricky Ponting’s one,” Simon Doull, mentioned.

Ravi Shastri was quick to respond to Doull, stating that David Warner also has a habit of winning the matches for the team, as it would be difficult for him to take up the losses.

“David Warner too. He’s been on the winning side as well,”  Ravi Shastri said.

It’s Not About Losing, It’s About Being Hammered – Ravi Shastri On Delhi Capitals’ Poor Show

Ravi Shastri asserted that it was not about losing the match, and reckoned that Delhi Capitals were hammered in all five matches and they found nowhere close to winning in the match as they outplayed in the tournament so far. Delhi Capitals only had a close finish against five-time champions Mumbai Indians, other than they were nowhere in the contest of the game.

“It’s not about losing. It’s about being hammered. It’s five on the trot, with you not looking like winning. Losing close games is one thing, but when you’re being outplayed by the opposition, it’s not a happy story,” Ravi Shastri said.

The former Indian Coach took a brutal dig at former Indian Skipper Sourav Ganguly stating that he would have been thinking that it was better to be upstairs watching the match.

“Sourav Ganguly, the former president of the board. He must have thought it was nice upstairs!”  Ravi Shastri said.

Delhi Capitals will have a 4-day break, before going into the next game as they will play two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders on their home ground in Arun Jaitley Stadium.
