Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed their star all-rounder Ben Stokes has suffered an injury–and it will keep him out of action at least for another week. The left-handed batter has played only two games for the four-time champions so far in the league stage.

The England red-ball skipper was brought in for whopping 16.25 crores in the IPL auction and was expected to play a vital role for the MS Dhoni-led side, but could not live up to the expectation so far, playing only two games before an injury ruled him out for some time.

Despite injury concerns to their star all-rounder, Chennai Super Kings are doing well in the league stage winning four games from their six games played so far. Speaking to the media after the thumping victory over the 2016-champions, their head coach provided an update about the Ben Stokes injury.

“Ben Stokes has suffered an injury setback and will be out for a week,  Stokes, just a setback, I’m not gonna go into it, but it’s not major. It’s just he’s close. He’s working really hard to get right, can’t fault that at all. So, he just needs a little bit of luck,” Stephen Fleming said.

Ben Stokes has been a revelation since the 2019 World Cup for England and took over Test captaincy for Joe Root and also recently played a huge role in England’s T20 World Cup 2022 title win. The England all-rounder would be hopeful of making comeback into the side very soon.

Stokes’ injury concern may worry many fans across the world, with Ashes around the corner. Stokes will be an important part of England leading the team in Ashes 2023.

He Is Managing His Injury Well – Stephen Fleming On MS Dhoni’s Injury

Stephen Fleming said that their skipper MS Dhoni is managing his injury very well and there is no concern about him. The former Indian skipper has played 16 editions of the IPL and captained Chennai Super Kings to win the four championships in the league.

“MS is completely fine. He is managing his injury well. He is available. He always keeps the team first. If he knows he can’t contribute because of injury, he would have sat out himself. There is no concern with him,”  Stephen Fleming added.
