Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni didn’t have the best outing with the bat in his last home game of the season as he was dismissed for one run leaving the full-packed Chepauk crowd in disappointment. The four-time champions made it into the record 10th final in the cash-rich league with a thumping win over Gujarat Titans on Tuesday.

Former Indian Cricketer Irfan Pathan believes that it is not the last time the Chennai crowd witness the Indian legend in his fortress saying that the CSK captain should play for some time, especially with the introduction of the new impact player rule.

MS Dhoni walked into bat at the NO.7 position, with the loudest cheer from the Chennai crowd for the one last time in IPL 2023, with the team lost wickets in quick succession, as the former Indian skipper could not play an impactful knock as he was dismissed by his former teammate Mohit Sharma as Dhoni tried to hit a slower delivery which went straight into the hands of Hardik Pandya.

The CSK skipper walked out to the pavilion in disappointment with getting out leaving the crowd in pin-drop silence, also many speculate that this could even be the last innings of MS Dhoni in the Chepauk as the rumours regarding his retirement are growing higher since the start of the IPL.

The 41-year-old is widely expected to hang up his boots after playing in front of the home crowd in Chennai this year. Earlier, in post-match presentations, Dhoni admitted that he is “in the last phase of his career”.

The CSK skipper has kept the cricketing fraternity and fans guessing about his retirement from the cash-rich league. It will interesting to see whether the Indian legend hangs up his boots after this season or continue to play for CSK.

Cameron Green Is Potential Match-winner For Mumbai Indians – Irfan Pathan

Cricketer-turned-commentator Irfan Pathan wants the Australian hard-hitting all-rounder Cameron Green to continue playing in the number three position for the five-time champions in the forthcoming matches as the pitches in Chennai and Ahmedabad would not be batting friendly as the Wankhede Stadium.

“MI invested big money in Cameron Green and the big-hitter didn’t disappoint. He’s a potential match-winner for MI. He should be batting at number three for MI in the coming games because pitches in Chennai and Ahmedabad will not be easy to bat like Wankhede,” Irfan Pathan added.

Cameron Green scored 381 runs at an average of 54.42 and a strike-rate of 159.41 with one century and two half-centuries to show for his efforts and the important hundred came in a must-win game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday which helped their side to reach into the playoffs stage.

Mumbai Indians will take on the Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator contest in Chepauk Stadium on Wednesday and the winner of the match will take on the defending champions Gujarat Titans in qualifier 2 to book a spot in the Grand final against Chennai Super Kings in Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
