Mumbai Indians have received a big boost ahead of IPL 2023 as their pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah looks set to return to action when the tournament gets underway.

The right-arm pacer has not played a competitive game since the T20I series against South Africa at home in September last year. He was ruled out of action with a back injury. He was looking set to return to action last month through the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

He was named in the squad for the series. But just a day before the series got underway, his name was withdrawn from the squad as he needed at least another month of rehabilitation for stiffness in his right glute. With the World Cup to be played this year, the Indian selectors and the team-management are taking no risks with Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness.

Consequently, he was not named in the Test squad for the ongoing series against Australia. He will also miss the ODI series against the same opposition, scheduled to be played next month.

Jasprit Bumrah resumes bowling:

It looks like Jasprit Bumrah would make his much-awaited return to competitive cricket soon. According to several media reports, the pacer is likely to return during IPL 2023. And a recent video is enough to show that the pacer’s return is just a matter of time. The video that was shot at the NCA shows Jasprit Bumrah bowling with ease.

Meanwhile, Cricbuzz has reported that Bumrah is yet to get a clearance from the NCA. While he has played two practice games at the BCCI’s facility in Bengaluru in the last 10 days, he is yet to get an all-clear to be considered for national call-ups. The report also stated that Bumrah would play in IPL 2023 where the BCCI will monitor his workload.
