Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar wants Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni to promote himself in the batting order which can make a difference in their batting as he is capable of scoring big runs for his team. CSK will take on Rajasthan Royals in their fourth game of the league stage at their fortress Chepauk on Wednesday.
The former Indian skipper looked in exceptional touch against Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants in the small cameos he played at the end of the innings for the four-time champions. He struck two sixes off one of the world’s fastest bowlers before being dismissed on the third ball during the match against LSG.
“I am hoping MS Dhoni promotes himself higher in the batting order. So that he gets to play more than two or three overs in the games. He can make that difference for CSK with his batting because he is capable of scoring big runs,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports about MS Dhoni’s batting position.
It will be interesting to see whether the 2011 World Cup-winning captain promotes himself in the batting order for the CSK or not. MS Dhoni-led side is known for making strong comebacks and they did that after facing defeat against Gujarat Titans. Chennai Super Kings will be boosted by the arrival of Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana.
On the other hand, Sanju Samson-led side has two wins from three matches as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad and underperforming Delhi Capitals. Their only defeat came against Punjab Kings in a close-fought game in Guwahati.
MS Dhoni Will Lead Chennai Super Kings For The Record 200th Time In IPL
Chennai Super Kings Mahendra Singh Dhoni will lead the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings for the 200th time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the match against Rajasthan Royals in front of their home crowd in Chepauk.
MS Dhoni has been captaining the Chennai franchise since the inaugural edition (2008) and led the team to become the second most successful franchise winning 4 IPL titles next to Mumbai Indians, who have bagged 5 IPL titles. Under Dhoni, CSK also reached the IPL final, a record 9 times.
Dhoni has captained on 213 occasions in IPL including Rising Pune Supergiants in the 2016 IPL, out of which he has won 125 matches, lost 87, and one match failed to produce a result. Nevertheless, it will be a great opportunity for such a dynamic leader to cherish this landmark appearance in front of home fans.
