Former Indian team chief selector MSK Prasad believes that Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni never runs after titles stating that he always focuses on the process of getting closer to those titles. Dhoni is unarguably one of the greatest Indian captains in the history of cricket winning three ICC titles for India.
The 41-year-old is known as one of the shrewd cricketing brains in the history of the call–and is currently leading Chennai Super Kings, which is potentially seen as his last season in the CSK colours as a player. The former Indian skipper has been a stalwart of the Chennai side as he led them to play-offs for 11 seasons and also reached the IPL final, a record 9 times.
Speaking with Timesnownews.com, MSK Prasad feels that all attention in IPL 2023 has shifted toward MS Dhoni as this season is seen as his last season and disclosed that Dhoni never believed in the title and said that he always wanted to stick to his process.
“All of our attention is more towards MS (Dhoni) because people think and everybody knows that this could be his last year. But the reality is that he never believed in titles. Always believed in processes and if the process is taken care of, the result will fall in place,” MSK Prasad said.
“So, if someone is not following the process or not putting in the effort, then he is very particular and severe about that. I can clearly say that he never played for titles. He always believed in the right process and putting in the right effort. He is very particular about that. Otherwise, he is still the same guy,” he stated.
MS Dhoni has been captaining the Chennai franchise since the inaugural edition (2008) and led the team to become the second most successful franchise winning 4 IPL titles next to Mumbai Indians, who have bagged 5 IPL titles.
It Would Be Very Tough To Pick The IPL 2023 Winner – MSK Prasad
MSK Prasad has predicted that defending champions Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings would make it to the playoffs of IPL 2023, the fourth spot would be a tussle between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings.
“For playoffs, I will go with GT, RR CSK, and the fourth team could be between LSG and PBKS. It would be very tough but it (the IPL 2023 winner) would be between GT, RR, and CSK. But tough to take a call,” Prasad continued.
GT, RR, and CSK are comfortably placed in the points tables to make it into the playoffs, with another team RCB, LSG, PBKS, and MI would look to put in their hand for the playoff spot.
