Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was full of praise for the World No.1 T20 batter Suryakumar Yadav for his brilliant knock against Punjab Kings in a high-scoring encounter in Mohali. The 32-year-old displayed a brilliant 360-degree batting to score 66 runs off just 31 balls to help Mumbai Indians register their 5th win in the league stage.
In the game against Punjab Kings, Suryakumar Yadav batted aggressively in the middle over alongside Indian wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan to tilt the game in the favour of the five-time champions as they stitched a partnership of 116 runs to help Mumbai Indians win the game against Shikhar Dhawan-side.
Speaking on Star Sports, Harbhajan Singh lauded Suryakumar Yadav for his brilliance against Punjab stating that he hadn’t seen any player putting this much pressure on the bowler and asserted that even AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle have not dominated a game like this in T20 format.
“I have never seen such things, that you put the bowler under pressure like this. I have played a lot of cricket. I have not come across any guy who can dominate like this. AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle played and went but I don’t think any batter dominated like this in any format,” Harbhajan Singh said.
The former off-spinner feels it is difficult to bowl to any field as he can clear any field set and praised him for his different shot selection against Punjab.
“It doesn’t make a difference to him who the bowler in front of him is. He has his game set. He knows where to hit each ball. Normally, players take singles or hit hard on the ground. He has all types of shots where he hits boundaries.”
Suryakumar Yadav was at his very best in the last few games for the five-time champions as he played a vital role in their victory in the last couple of games and the Indian batter went through some tough times in International cricket before coming into the IPL and has changed the tides in the favour of him.
This Looks Like A Different Form Of Cricket – Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh said that it was an unreal batting performance by Suryakumar Yadav as it is difficult to stop him when he bats in full flow and credited him for taking T20 cricket to a different level.
“He is a player of a different level. Bowling dot balls to him are difficult. I have not seen such batting. When he plays, everyone looks pale. The cricket we have seen or played looks like a different form of cricket,” Harbhajan Singh added.
Mumbai Indians will look to continue their winning momentum against the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings on May 6 in the famous MA Chidambaram Stadium, as they have back-to-back wins against Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.
