Former Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina picked Chris Gayle and Virender Sehwag as his choice of opening batters for the IPL’s all-time playing XI. The 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to begin on March 31, between the defending champions Gujarat Titans and four-time champions Chennai Super Kings.

As the buzz around the cash-rich league is rising, former cricketers and experts have started to give opinions about the league, recalling their favourite moments, predicting the winners for the 2023 season, and picking the all-time greats of IPL. Suresh Raina, who is himself one of the greats in IPL, picked Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle as the opener of his all-time IPL playing 11.

For me, Chris Gayle, and Virender Sehwag. David Warner has done well, but for the impact that is needed in the IPL, I don’t think anybody can do it better than Gayle and Sehwag. Over the years we have seen how they have performed, and if you want to make runs in the first six overs, then there’s no one better than these two,” Suresh Raina said on Jio Cinema.

Former Chennai super kings batter Suresh Raina snubbed David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Gautam Gambhir to pick the legendary Virender Sehwag and hard-hitting Chris Gayle as his choice of openers. Virender Sehwag was a surprising choice as he played less compared to other openers in the league.

Deepak Hooda Could Bring The Balance In The Team – Suresh Raina

Former Indian batter Suresh Raina thinks Deepak Hooda will be a highly beneficial player for team India in the ODI World Cup 2023. Deepak Hooda has been overlooked in ODI’s for India. Meanwhile, Deepak Hooda will be seen playing for LSG in the upcoming edition of IPL and has begun preparation for IPL 2023.

“I remember how Viru (Virender Sehwag) pa, Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) pa, and Sachin (Tendulkar) paaji used to bowl. Yusuf (Pathan) and I as well. Whenever a left-hander used to come to the crease, Mahi (MS Dhoni) Bhai would call me. I think Deepak Hooda could bring that factor; he can be the floater batter. He’s a terrific fielder, a good offie, and can replicate his T20 form in ODIs,” he stated.

Deepak Hooda will look to impress the selectors by doing well for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023 and getting into the Indian ODI team. The 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup will take place in India most probably in October-November. The last three editions of the ODI World Cup were won by the host nation, and India would also like to continue the same trend by becoming the champion for the third time.
