Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw made come back into the Indian side through the New Zealand series. Prithvi Shaw who has been scoring runs consistently across formats in domestic cricket in all three formats has finally earned a recall in the T20I series against New Zealand.

Though he didn’t get a place in playing 11, Prithvi Shaw revealed that it was good to be back in the Indian setup and to make come back in the T20 side, on selection in the team he said it depends on management’s decision to select the team. Speaking to News24 Sports.

“I felt nice coming back into the T20I squad, to meet the players and train with them. I enjoyed that bit. Yes, I did not get an opportunity but was given the chance to make a comeback, which mattered, It all depended on them when to play and when not to, but I respected that because probably they wanted to give the person before me a bit longer run”

Prithvi Shaw admitted that he kept scoring runs and recalled his fantastic form on the domestic circuit and most recently scored 379 runs in a Ranji trophy match and added that sometimes the selection leaves him disappointed despite all his efforts in the domestic circuit. Shaw, an U-19 World Cup winner in 2018, played five Tests, six ODIs, and a lone T20I.

“I kept on scoring runs. I felt if that was not enough then I have to score more and more…then I scored 379. It was just my day and felt I will not let go of this opportunity. Sometimes it just tends to hit you that why I am not in the Indian team for so long despite all the efforts…but it’s never too late.”

One of the major reasons behind Prithvi Shaw’s non-selection is the availability of plenty of openers in the Indian Team. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are the first-choice openers in all three formats of the game. After these two, Ishan Kishan has already cemented his place as a backup opener.
