Chennai Super Kings pacer Deepak Chahar hopes to play the entire season without injury for the four-time champions in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. The 30-year-old missed out on the entire season of IPL 2022 due to an injury.
Chennai Super Kings will take on Lucknow Super Giants in their opening home game on Monday, with Chepauk being the fortress for the four-time champions. CSK will return to Chepauk after three long years under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Speaking on CSK TV, about expectations from this season, Chahar wished to play the entire season for the franchise and wanted to win the tournament for his side.
“I know how to deal with injuries, but this time it was longer. It was at least eight months. For a fast bowler, coming back from an injury is a difficult task. Hopefully, I don’t get it again and I play this entire season and year injury free. I have been lucky to be part of a good team and a good environment. And if you are always talking about winning the tournament. That’s where you reach the finals and win the finals,” Deepak Chahar said.
Deepak Chahar went wicketless for Chennai Super Kings in their opening encounter against Gujarat Titans but bowled brilliantly well to concede only 29 runs from 4 overs. The medium-pacer will look to use the home conditions when they take on LSG in Chepauk in their second game.
Deepak Chahar expressed his excitement to play in the renowned MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, as the team has a higher win percentage than any home team in IPL history, and also asserted that the newly renovated stadium looks excellent.
I have A Good Relationship With Bravo – Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar said that their bowling coach Dwayne Bravo has been very helpful to the bowlers and he could like to pick up some tips to improve his bowling, especially his death bowling. Chahar further reckoned that Bravo’s experience will help the young fast bowlers in the team.
“In the first year, Dwayne Bravo helped me. I have had a good relationship with Bravo. He has got a huge experience and that’s good for all the youngsters. We have a lot of young fast bowlers on our team. It’s good for them to learn. I can even learn a few skills from him, especially death bowling,” Deepak Chahar added.
Ahead of IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings let go of Dwayne Bravo, who had a moderate season in IPL 2022, and appointed him as bowling coach replacing Lakshmipathy Balaji.
