I Take It As A Challenge And Practice A Lot – Deepak Chahar On His Death Bowling

The 30-year-old Deepak Chahar, who usually bowls in the powerplay for the Chennai Super Kings believes that he has done well in the slog overs for the Chennai Super Kings–and feels the bowlers will have the luxury of having 5 fielders for final overs.

“I’ve done well for CSK whenever I’ve bowled in the 18th, 19th, and 20th over. Before this, my economy was under 8 when I bowled at death. In powerplay, your bowl with a new ball and have only 2 fielders outside whereas in the slog overs, your bowl with an old ball and have five fielders outside”.

Chahar further continued, that he has many variations in his bowling–and can execute his plan according to his strength.

“I take it as a challenge and I also practice a lot. Earlier I didn’t bowl much because we had more options to bowl at the death. Since I’ve many variations — yorker, knuckleball, slow bouncer, leg-cutter, wide-yorker, off-cutter — you decide according to the batter and the pitch and execute accordingly,” Chahar added.

Earlier, Deepak Chahar said that their bowling coach Dwayne Bravo has been very helpful to the bowlers–and he could like to pick up some tips to improve his bowling, especially his death bowling.

Besides, Chahar wished to play the entire season for the franchise and wanted to win the tournament for ‘Yellow Army’.
