England’s rising Star Harry Brook revealed the reason behind his poor run in IPL 203 and stated that he is new to the role of opening the innings in IPL as he usually bats in the middle over for England and said that he tries to be more positive with the bat in the powerplay.

The 24-year-old has managed to score only 163 runs from his eight matches at a poor strike rate of 125.38 including a lone match-winning century against KKR. Brook struggled to get going in the league as he found it tough to adapt to different conditions in India.

Speaking to the broadcasters, ahead of their match against Delhi Capitals in the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Brook admitted his poor run in the IPL, stating that opening was something new to him and said that he could not execute his hard-hitting game style in the matches.

“Opening is something different for me. Going out there with a different game plan, I have not executed it properly yet but getting a big score amid this IPL was nice,” Harry Brook said.

“Just being positive in the powerplay helps, maybe in the future I can go over the top more but I would not change much in terms of strategy, to be honest. Some days you hit the fielder, some days you don’t.

Harry Brook is touted to be the next big thing in the world of cricket and has been the standout player for England in Test Cricket as he scored 809 runs from 6 matches at an average of 80.9 with an impressive strike rate of 98.80 in the longer format.

In the IPL 2023 Auction, the English batter was brought at the whopping amount of ₹13.25 crores but could replicate his form in a cash-rich league and will look to improve his performance in the forthcoming games.

We Could Rather Get Caught On The Boundary Rather Than Being… – Harry Brook

Harry Brook revealed that he would not change his strategy going forward in the tournament and said that he would try to be more positive in the coming games and believes that it is better to get caught on the boundary line rather getting bowled or LBW.

“Just be more positive with our batting. We would rather get caught on the boundary rather than be in there for a bit and get stumped or LBW or bowled. Hopefully, we can get a big score out there,” Harry Brook added.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the next encounter on May 4 in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
