Indian Veteran wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha said that he focuses on Indian Premier League rather than thinking about his comeback to the Indian Test team and reckons that he wanted to do well for the defending champions of Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023.

Saha was unfortunately removed from the Test squad at the end of 2021 due to the emergence of young Rishabh Pant in red-ball cricket. Saha has been part of the Tripura team in the Ranji Trophy. In 3 matches, he has scored 231 runs at a fantastic average of 77 with 1 century and 1 fifty.

With Ajinkya Rahane making a comeback into the side for the World Test Championship final, Saha was questioned about his aspirations to play for the Indian team again. Speaking to the media ahead of their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders, Saha said that he is focused to do well for Gujarat Titans rather than thinking too far ahead.

”He (Rahane) might have been reconsidered because he has done well. But I’m only focused on doing well for GT as of now,”  Wriddhiman Saha said.

Wriddhiman Saha was elated to play against his former side Kolkata Knight Riders in his home condition in the iconic Eden Gardens on Saturday and said that he has good experience playing on this ground.

“Kolkata is my home, I’ve played many matches here. Now, I’m playing for an away team. Motera is my home (in IPL). Conditions are different,” Saha said.

Gujarat Titans will come into the contest after a thumping win over five-time champions Mumbai Indians as they will look to continue their winning momentum against the two-time champions.

I Always Tried To Give Good Start – Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha revealed that he always wanted to give a big start for his sides and makes full use of the powerplay to capitalize on the field restrictions. Saha has scored 141 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of over 130 for GT.

“‘I always tried to give a good start. I’m happy if I get the team momentum. A hundred does not matter if your team goes on to lose. I’m happy with scoring a 25 or 50 if the team wins,” Wriddhiman Saha added.

Gujarat Titans will look to take revenge for their previous loss against Kolkata Knight Riders where they defeated them the final overs as Rinku Singh played one of the unarguably best knocks of IPL, to chase 29 runs in the final overs where the GT pacer Yash Dayal crumbled under pressure to concede five straight sixes in the final over.
