Punjab Kings Spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi believes Jitesh Sharma is one of the best wicket-keeper batters in the country which was the reason behind his selection in the Indian T20 team. The 29-year-old was part of the India T20 squad in the previous two series but could not make his debut for the Men in Blue.
Jitesh Sharma was one of the most impressive uncapped cricketers in the country and has impressed everyone with his hard-hitting batting and finishing abilities and has also been impressed with his work behind the stumps for the Punjab Kings.
With Rishabh Pant missing a few months of crickets due to a tragic car accident, India has invested in Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson for the wicket-keeper’s role, but Jitesh Sharma has provided a strong case with performance for the Punjab Kings, especially in the T20 cricket for India.
Speaking to the media, former Indian chief selector Sunil Joshi, who is closely working with Jitesh Sharma in Punjab Kings believes that Jitesh Sharma has been phenomenal in the last couple of seasons in IPL and domestic cricket for Vidarbha and feels that his performance is recognized and so he picked in the Indian side.
“Jitesh has been wonderful. It shows his quality and is one of the reasons he was picked for the Indian team in place of Sanju Samson. In the last 18 months how he has performed in domestic and IPL and that is the reason he is ahead of some other wicketkeepers,” Sunil Joshi said.

“Let’s stick to the T20 format, he has done well consistently in this format in the last two years of IPL. That performance was recognized by the wise people who picked him for the Indian team,” he added.
In the previous game against Mumbai Indians, Jitesh Sharma played an explosive knock against Mumbai Indians in Mohali as he showcased his brilliant finishing skills to score 49* runs off 27 balls including five fours and two sixes.
