Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra believes Lucknow Super Giants have the potential to score 200 runs in every match if their batsmen perform to their ability in the match. KL Rahul-led LSG will take on Delhi Capitals on April 1, in Ekana Cricket Stadium.
With the IPL 2023 underway, the cricketer-turned-commentator has shared his opinions on the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra reckoned that Lucknow has a strong batting lineup, which has the potential to score 200 runs in every match.
“If they play to their potential, they should score 200 runs in every match. Quinton de Kock is not available for the first match, so Kyle Mayers might be seen opening with KL Rahul. Then Deepak Hooda at No. 3, you can keep Ayush Badoni at No. 4, Nicholas Pooran at No. 5, Marcus Stoinis at No. 6, and Krunal Pandya at No. 7,” said Aakash Chopra.
Aakash Chopra warned bowling might be an issue for Lucknow Super Giants in the absence of left-arm Mohsin Khan, but feels Ravi Bishnoi and Mark Wood be the key to their success in the league. LSG has backup options in the form of Jaydev Unadkat, Daniel Sams, and Romario Shepherd.
“There are slight problems in bowling and that is only because you don’t have Mohsin Khan. How can that issue be resolved? You have Ravi Bishnoi, and Mark Wood is available. So you have these two gun bowlers. They also have Jaydev Unadkat and Avesh Khan,” Chopra added.
Lucknow Super Giants made their first appearance in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League IPL and delivered an impressive show on the group stage. With nine victories and five losses in 14 games and made it to the playoffs before losing out to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator.
They Are Problems With Delhi Capitals – Aakash Chopra On Rishabh Pant’s Absence
Aakash Chopra said that Delhi Capitals too have problems in the team in the absence of their regular skipper Rishabh Pant, who will miss out on the season due to a fatal car accident. On recent developments, Abhishek Porel replaced Pant in the team, but most likely Delhi Capitals will start with Sarfaraz Khan as the wicket-keeper batter for the initial stage of the league.
“There are problems with Delhi. Rishabh Pant is not there. They have kept Abhishek Porel in his place of him, but will he play? Sarfaraz Khan might keep and we are also hearing that they might get Manish Pandey to keep. Warner’s availability is also not certain,” said Chopra.
Australian opener David Warner will captain the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League in the absence of their regular skipper Rishabh Pant and will look to lead the team to its maiden IPL title in 2023.
