Lucknow Super Giants Skipper KL Rahul has been ruled out of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is most likely to be out WTC final against Australia after suffering a thigh injury during his team’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Ekana Stadium On May 1.

The LSG skipper chased down and tried to stop the ball from the boundary before pulling up the leg and walking out of the field in terrible pain and didn’t take part in the match before walking to bat in the 19th over but could not finish the game for his side against Faf du Plessis side.

KL Rahul did not feature in the team’s match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday in Ekana Stadium as the Krunal Pandya led the side in the rain-curtailed encounter where both the teams shared a point each to move 11 points in the points table. Lucknow Super Giants have not opted for any replacement as of now, as they have only four games going into the tournament.

According to reports in Cricbuzz, the India wicketkeeper-batsman is in Mumbai for the scans, and the  Board of Control for Cricket in India and the National Cricket Academy (NCA have taken over the injury management and it is said that call on KL Rahul’s participation in the World Test Championship will be taken based on the scan reports.

Earlier LSG pacer Jaydev Unadkat was ruled out of the IPL 2023 due to a  shoulder injury he sustained during the practice session ahead of their clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore and on the advice of BCCI medical staff, he withdraw from the tournament to keep him available for the all-important World Test Championship final starting on June 7.

Indian team management will be worried by injury concerns of Jaydev Unadkat and KL Rahul as both players are part of India’s squad for the WTC final against Australia. According to reports, Unadkat will travel to NCA to work on his fitness to make fully fit for the game against Pat Cummins-led side.

Meanwhile, most of the Indian team players will leave for London for the WTC final immediately after the league stage of the IPL which ends on May 21 and will be joined by the other players as part of the playoffs after the completion of the IPL 2023 Finals.

Team India has struggled with a spate of injuries in recent months, which include Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Prasidh Krishna, all of whom are expected to miss most of the 2023 cricket season.
