Lucknow Super Giants Morne Morkel heaped praise on LSG young pacer Mohsin Khan for coming back from a nasty injury to deliver well for their side in the crunch game. The 24-year-old defend 11 runs against five-time champions Mumbai Indians in Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.

It was reported that Mohsin Khan underwent surgery to remove blood clots in his left shoulder and experienced discomfort in late 2022 and he himself revealed that the doctor once told him that they would amputate his arm if he was late by month to treat the injury.

Speaking to the media ahead of their important game against Kolkata Knight Riders, Morne Morkel lauded Mohsin Khan’s comeback from injury as an inspirational one after he almost lost his arm as he had blood clots in his arm and praised him for excellent composure to hold his nerve in the final over against Mumbai Indians.

“Because of the injury, Mohsin almost lost his arm. Being a year out of the game and coming back to bowl an over like that has been inspirational,” Morne Morkel said.

“To come back without any cricket at all and with a handful of training sessions, then play the IPL where the margins are so small, and to show that composure and calmness was pleasing”.

Mohsin missed the majority of matches for LSG in their second IPL season as he recovered from a long-laying left shoulder injury. The Left-arm pacer has not played any competitive cricket since the LSG’s exit from the Eliminator game against RCB last season.

In IPL 2022, The left-arm pacer showed the ability to contain the batsmen in the powerplays where he picked up six wickets and conceded just 5.25 runs per over in the last season, and the variations in the death overs which made him one of the best bowlers.

Morne Morkel believes that Indian Cricket has got a gem of talent in the form of  Mohsin Khan, as the BCCI show tries to look after him, as many experts in the cricketing fraternity touted him as the player to watch out for the Indian team in the future as he has shown the ability to bowl both with the new ball and in the death overs.

“Indian cricket has a real gem of a cricketer and somebody they need to look after,” Morne Morkel added.

Mohsin Khan finished his maiden IPL season with an impressive 14 wickets from 9 games with an impressive economy rate of 5.96 and he will vital for the Lucknow Super Giants campaign IPL 2023.
